In general a multitude of applications with elemental analyzers are found in the field of environmental analysis. However, the organic carbon content in drinking water, waste water and other types of water is gaining more importance for basic screening as well as an indicator for water quality. In addition to the measurement of total organic carbon (TOC) ELEMENTAR analyzers can also simultaneously measure total bound nitrogen (TN_b) in these same samples which is important environmentally. ELEMENTARs TOC/TN_b analyzers are suitable for the entire range of applications from part per billion levels for injectable pharmaceutical water, over drinking and sea water, to high salt containing samples (brine) to industrial effluents, seawages and sludges. Other types of carbon determination such as total inorganic carbon (TIC), purgable organic carbon (POC/VOC) are also possible.
