The use of chromatographic techniques in combination with isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) allows isotope ratio measurements at a compound level. The ability to investigate at the compound-to-compound level brings further insight than that which is available at the “bulk isotope” level and is therefore a highly complementary technique across many application areas such as geochemistry, food analysis, medical and pharmaceuticals.

Working in collaboration with Agilent Technologies our GC- and LC-IRMS solutions deliver market leading performance to our customers around the world.
For LC-IRMS solutions, we are able to offer two different solutions for the analysis of your samples. The two solutions are built around different oxidation strategies. Our LiquiFace system is a “traditional” LC-IRMS interface which uses a wet-chemical oxidation technique to oxidize organic carbon to CO2. Our new iso CHROM LC pursues a different solution based around high temperature oxidation chemistry. This technique leverages the exceptional technology used in our standard elemental analyzer systems and for the first time allows the analysis of both carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios in LC separated organic compounds.
